MSP Murdo Fraser attended a number of events in Blairgowrie and Rattray over the weekend and heard from local traders that the four-day programme was a welcome boost to the local economy.
Commenting, Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“BEPTA are to be praised for putting on a tremendous and packed programme to celebrate the finale of Homecoming and St. Andrew’s Day. I congratulate everyone involved for all their organisation and work; the whole town got involved with the events and was a great success.
“I spoke with a number of traders in Blairgowrie during the weekend events and it is clear that local businesses were very happy with the programme and the boost it brought to the economy.
“BEPTA managed to put so much on in Blairgowrie and Rattray over the weekend. The Continental Market on the Wellmeadow, the Lunch Concert at Rattray Hall, ceilidhs, folk music, the Craft Market, the Blairgowrie, Rattray and District Pipe Band and other pipe bands marching through the town: all of it was a success and great for Blairgowrie and Rattray.
“St. Andrew’s Day is a special day when we can celebrate everything that is magnificent and noble about Scotland. This is the third year that BEPTA has put on a St Andrew’s Programme and the event here is growing every year, which is welcome news for local businesses and residents.”
