Last month, Murdo Fraser MSP lodged a parliamentary motion in the Scottish Parliament praising the Black Watch for their “bravery, commitment and dignity” during their recent tour of Afghanistan.
Commenting ahead of the medal parade, Murdo Fraser MSP said:
“The Black Watch has once again served our nation with unwavering courage, skill and commitment and it is fitting to have this medal parade at Fort George for our soldiers. In Afghanistan, the Black Watch proved once again they are one of the best fighting units in the world today and this medal parade will reflect the bravery that these men and women showed.
“People want to show their gratitude to the Black Watch for what they have done. Angus, Fife and Perthshire have a long and proud history as the recruiting ground for the Black Watch regiment - now part of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. Our local area is intertwined with the Black Watch and nowhere is the public affection and support for the Black Watch stronger than in the Tayside and Fife area.”
