In the Scottish Parliament, Murdo lodged the following motion:
“That the Parliament congratulates the organisers Perthshire Big Tree Country and the Pitlochry Partnership for the success of the ‘The Enchanted Forest’ and the Pitlochry Autumn Festival, which ran from 16 – 31 October 2009; notes ‘The Enchanted Forest’, a sound and light show in the Faskally Wood near Pitlochry which allows visitors to roam around the forest to some spectacular effects and displays saw record numbers visit the attraction; and believes that everyone involved in the events can be proud that Highland Perthshire now has one of the best annual tourist events in Scotland.”
Commenting, Murdo said:
“I congratulate everyone at Perthshire Big Tree Country and the Pitlochry Partnership for all their organisation and work to put on the Enchanted Forest show and the Pitlochry Autumn Festival. Pitlochry in autumn is a magical place, with its stunning backdrop of Highland Perthshire, and these events make the place even more special.
“I attended the opening of the spectacular ‘The Enchanted Forest’ show at Faskally Wood and it has been a great success. The Enchanted Forest saw record numbers attend this year’s show and underlines how successful and popular it has become, which is great news for the local economy.
“With the Enchanted Forest and all the other events during the Pitlochry Autumn Festival, we now have one of the best tourist events in Scotland and I wish it continued success.”
Local Highland Councillor, Ian Campbell added:
“The Enchanted Forest has been a great event over the last few years and continues to grow. In future years it will be run a locally formed community company and will, I am sure, continue to operate the event at the highest level but also in the interest of the local community.
“I would suggest that next year folks get their tickets booked as early as possible as the event is becoming increasingly popular and with the Autumn Festival it makes a great weekend or short break for all the family.”
