Commenting, Murdo Fraser said:
“I believe that we cannot take the risk that the existing bridge is closed to traffic within the next ten years. We must see the new Forth road bridge project move forward and it is essential that the SNP Government and Westminster Government stop squabbling and start acting in the interests of individuals and businesses who depend on the crossing.
“It goes without saying that the future of the new Forth Crossing is absolutely vital to people in Fife, Perthshire and Angus and indeed for everyone in the East of Scotland. It is essential to the economy of the whole country that we secure a new crossing for the Forth.
“The future of the Forth Crossing is simply too serious an issue for parties to be playing political games with. What we need is for both parties to sit down and work together to try and find a solution. An incoming UK Conservative Government’s would sit down and hold talks with the Scottish Government to discuss possible funding ideas. Scotland expects nothing less.”
