Looking ahead to Conference, Murdo Fraser, Deputy Leader of the Scottish Conservatives and MSP for Mid-Scotland & Fife, said:
“The Dewars Centre in Perth has been a great venue for the Scottish Conservatives in previous conferences and it will be a fantastic setting for our last conference before we head into a General Election.
“There are over 1000 delegates coming to Perth for this one day conference and it is estimated that the local economy will benefit by a boost of around £65,000. As always, delegates will be welcomed to Perth with first-class service, whether it is at the conference centre or in the hotels, cafes, restaurants and shops.
“It is excellent that the Conservatives are once again in Perth for our conference, especially during the Perth 800 celebrations. 2010 is a monumental year for Perth and I am glad that the Conservatives can contribute to the celebrations by bringing our conference back to Perth.
“The Conservatives fully back Perth becoming a legal city and us coming to Perth for our national conference year after year underlines our support and strong feelings for Perth.”
Peter Lyburn, Scottish Conservative candidate for Perth & North Perthshire, said:
“This will be the platform where David Cameron and Annabel Goldie make their last speeches to a Scottish conference before we head into a General Election later this year.
“It is great to once again welcome so many delegates to Perth and I know that they will be given a warm welcome. The Conservatives know that Perth is a world-class venue to hold a conference – it is central for our Scottish delegates, it has great facilities and is a great city to explore and shop for delegates when not in the conference.”
“David Cameron, members of his Shadow Cabinet and MSPs will be getting out and meeting a number of local businesses, organisations and charities in Perth. This will give local businesses and groups the opportunity to tell the Shadow Cabinet first hand the issues that they face every day under Labour’s recession.”
