NO TO PERTH INCINERATOR

The campaign against the Perth Incinerator came to the Scottish Parliament today (1 October) and MSP Murdo Fraser joined the demonstration to oppose the construction of the Incinerator and commend the campaigners.

Mid-Scotland and Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser is opposed to the incinerator being built on Shore Road. The Scottish Conservatives recently telephoned over 10,000 households in Perth to ask Fair City residents their opinion on the proposal, with the vast majority against the incinerator.

Commenting, Murdo said:

“I am completely against the proposed Perth Incinerator and believe that it would ruin the fair city of Perth if it were to be constructed.

“The proposed incinerator would be a blot on the skyline and the fumes pumped out would be a health hazard. It is an absurd proposal and Perth & Kinross Council must apologise for allowing this farce to go on. If the SNP/Lib Dem Council believe that this incinerator is acceptable for Perth then it is clear that they are not fit to run our Council.

“The Scottish Conservatives have been at the forefront of the campaign against the Perth Incinerator and we will continue our campaign until the plans are thrown out by the Council. This incinerator represents a genuine threat to the future of the city and it is vital that the people of Perth and Perthshire tell the Council that they do not want it.”
