SNP GOVERNMENT MUST COME CLEAN ON BEAULY-DENNY DECISION

Mid-Scotland & Fife Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser has called on the Scottish Government to provide urgent clarification on whether or not it has given the go ahead to the Beauly to Denny power line upgrade application and has lodged a parliamentary question in the Scottish Parliament to force an answer from Scottish Ministers on the matter.

Commenting, Murdo Fraser said:

“The SNP Government must urgently clarify whether or not it has given the go ahead to the Beauly to Denny power line upgrade. A number of local communities that will be affected by the Beauly to Denny power line upgrade are rightly very concerned and worried that the development has been given the green light by the SNP Government.

“Communities in Perthshire and Stirlingshire will be affected by this power line and the potential health hazards are still not fully known yet it seems the SNP Government will still push ahead with this project.

“It is an insult to all the organisations, charities and individuals who have given evidence at the public inquiry that the SNP Government have gone about giving information to journalists before any official announcement. The SNP Government is trying to manage the press reaction to their decision and this is a disservice to everyone who has been involved and who will be affected by this application.”
