Ward 1 - Carse of Gowrie: Mac Roberts
Mac is married with three grown up children and has lived at Inchture Station for some 33 years. He is active locally, currently as Chairman of Inchture Area Community Council, a position he has held for some 10 years and prior to that he was a Community Councillor.
For the past 18 years he has been employed as a Principal Quantity surveyor in Local Government and prior to this he was in Private Practice and the Building Industry. He feels that his knowledge of Local Government will stand him in good stead, if elected by the people of the Carse, to ensure that Local Government Services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner and that Council Tax increases are kept to a minimum.
The Carse of Gowrie is now recognised as a Local Government unit within Perth & Kinross Council, stretching from Invergowrie in the East to Walnut Grove in the West. Vigilance will be required to keep it this way and not have its eastern end absorbed by Dundee.

Ward 3 - Blairgowrie and Glens: Caroline Shiers
Married to Jonathan and the mum of baby Martha, Caroline is actively involved with her husband in the running of his local kitchen and bathroom design and installation business. She is very aware of the burdens placed on small businesses of taxation and red tape.
In her free time, she has been involved as a volunteer with charities which run holidays and befriending schemes for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. She wants to see the role of voluntary organisations given greater recognition by local and central government.

Ward 4 - Highland: Ian Campbell
Ian was born in Glasgow and
has lived and worked in many
parts of the UK for a major
international company before
taking early retirement and
then starting his own vending
business covering the East of
Scotland. Ian is married, lives
in Stanley and is still paying
off his mortgage!
The local council has a real
responsibility to be imaginative in
the provision of rural housing and
rural transport, both vital issues, if
we are to keep our young people
living and working and developing
Perthshire as one of the best locations
in the UK to live and work.

Ward 10 - Perth City South: Alexander Stewart
Alexander Stewart is Leader of the Conservative group on the Council.
He and his team have done all they can to highlight issues and take a leading role in ensuring that the current Nationalist and Liberal Democrat coalition is called into account at every opportunity. The Conservative group has over the last three years produced budgets which are credible, workable and affordable, and reflect smaller increases in taxes for the public.
Said Alexander, 'The Scottish Conservatives have always put a high emphasis on improving the accountability of the council for how it spends the taxpayers' money. We strongly believe in delivering value for money and choice for all residents.'
